Soundarya posted a picture with son Ved in which the two are seen in a swimming pool enjoying their vacation. Soundarya soon started facing backlash from angry users for posting pictures from swimming pool when her hometown Chennai was reeling under water crisis.

 

Social media can be a weird place at times to stay in due to unforeseen circumstances and force into doing things which you wouldn’t want to. Rajinikanth’s younger daughter Soundarya Rajinikanth found herself in a similar situation couple of days ago. Soundarya posted a picture with son Ved in which the two are seen in a swimming pool enjoying their vacation. Soundarya soon started facing backlash from angry users for posting pictures from swimming pool when her hometown Chennai was reeling under water crisis. Chennai has been suffering for last few months due to shortage of ground water owing to lack of rains. And because of this reason, users felt that Soundarya’s post was insensible at a time when the city is suffering due to water crisis. Soundarya immediately pulled down the photos and wrote an apology note regarding them. “Removed the pictures shared in good spirit from my #TravelDiaries considering the sensitivity around the current #WaterScarcity we are facing ??. The throwback pics were to emphasise the importance for physical activities for children from a young age only ??? #LetsSaveWater[sic],” wrote Soundarya on her Twitter page. However, the filmmaker did not pull down the images from her Facebook page where it is still shown.

The scarcity in Chennai has caught the attention of many celebrities including Hollywood actor Leonardo DiCaprio who took to his Instagram page and posted a note about it. “The southern Indian city of Chennai is in crisis, after the four main water reservoirs ran completely dry. The acute water shortage has forced the city to scramble for urgent solutions and residents have to stand in line for hours to get water from government tanks. As the water levels depleted, hotels and restaurants started to shut down temporarily, and the air con was turned off in the city’s metro[sic],” wrote Leonardo in his post. The scarcity of water in Chennai has left the residents of the city in extreme distress who are now taking to rain water harvesting procedures to save water. Many celebrities from various professions are urging the residents to adopt methods to harvest rain water so that the scarcity can come to an end.
